I'm back in Cali!
My time back East was much quicker than the last time we had to head home. In short, it was very emotional. Thankfully, there was a lot of laughter as well as the expected tears. I was thankful to be around my family and hear for the fifth, sixth, seventh time awesome, HILARIOUS, stories of my Grandpa in various stages of his life. Even though I heard these stories so many times before, they finally stuck with me and I realized just how proud I am to have had him as my grandfather, and as my mom’s father. Hearing the bagpipes, watching the NYPD officers carry his coffin and salute him…and finally seeing the air force (well, they were actually stuck in a snow storm, so the navy came instead) speak and hand my grandma a folded flag gave me a sense of pride that has rarely been rivaled. I am so blessed.
