We used to live in Queens and work at a bank/hedge fund in Manhattan. We realized we hated it so we quit.
We drove our Ford Escape to San Diego and worked building houses in Tijuana as year-long interns at Amor Ministries.
This year Andrew is working full-time for Amor and Joanna is getting her Masters in Social Work from SDSU.

We went to an event last night for REVO San Diego at Bondi Bar downtown. REVO is an organization whose goal is to unite and support local organizations and artists in the fight against social injustice. They are unique and refreshing in their commitment to bringing non-profits together to support and encourage each other. Members of a bunch of different non-profits banded together to help plan and run the event - a different organization will be highlighted at each of the future events. Local artists donated pieces to be displayed and sold in a silent auction and the bar, Bondi, donated their space for free for the night.
This event highlighted Street Angels, an organization that provides survival kits and seeks to form relationships with kids living on the streets here in San Diego. $5 donation/cover at the door, $1 of every Primo beer sold, and the proceeds from the art auction all went to Street Angels to help them purchase necessities for the kids that they serve.
It was so great to be reminded that we are all in this together; we are on the same team, not in competition.
