My mom found a “Grace Book” at a garage sale years ago. You know, a book of prayers you say before meals. They have specific graces for holidays and events, and everyday meals too. It is a special tradition for the Bells, but we always groaned when we saw the book come out as kids (it always took my dad 20 minutes to choose the grace and then another 20 to say it - as we were dying of starvation). We also hated the family on the cover…they were so…perfect (how Christian of us). But, as we grew up we learned to love it and look forward to it…so did our close friends and extended family members. Last Christmas my mom found the same grace book (updated of course) and gave it to me and Andrew. I forgot about it until I realized we brought it with us to Cali! I am definitely going to use it!
Here is a simple one for New Year’s Eve:
“We pause to give thanks for Your goodness to us, Father. You have brought us on our way to the end of another year. You have blessed us with food and surrounded us with Your constant love. Receive our humble thanks in the Master’s name. Amen.”
