I posted yesterday morning that we would be in NJ in 6 hours.
So…when we left in August to drive out West we said we would come home for 2 reasons… 1) a death in the family 2) a sibling’s wedding.
Unfortunately, we are home due to reason 1). My grandpa (Opa) died.
On Wednesday, we got the call from my mom while we were in Puerto Penasco, Mexico. We were then shuttled to Phoenix (4 hours north) where Andrew’s dad was meeting with Amor (weird huh?!?!). We got to stay at his hotel and fly home with him. We got to my parents’ house at 4pm yesterday.
IT HAS BEEN A WHIRLWIND. We went from San Diego to Mex to Phoenix to NJ in a matter of days. I had never felt so disconnected from my family. I wanted nothing more to just be with them. Amor made that happen as fast as they possibly could and I am so amazed by their love and support.
My dad told us to rush home thinking the funeral would be this Saturday. Well…due to family traveling from afar and the need to find a place for the service…it has been moved to Sat the 21st…yes, we will have been here for 10 days by the time we leave on the 22nd. We are staying because the biggest reason we came home was for the funeral.
Talk about a curve ball. BUT…we are making the most of it and I am so thankful to be with my fam, especially my dad.
